Almighty God, who art ever ready to forgive, and to whom no prayer is made without hope of mercy: Speak to us thy word of consolation as we draw near to thee under the shadow of this great affliction. Deepen within our hearts the assurance of thy unfailing compassion; deliver us from all bitterness, despair, and doubt of thy love; and grant us to know the peace which passes all understanding, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
