O God, who of old didst give thy Holy Spirit to the elders of thy people: Grant, we beseech thee, wisdom and courage to the bishops and pastors of thy flock, that they may have a right judgment in all things, and be enabled to discern and to use what thy divine providence has ordained at this time for the good of thy people, and the extension of thy kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
