O Lord God, who in the day of danger knowest how many and stern are the tasks to which we are set: Help us to honour thee by a strenuous devotion to duty and work, and to the high cause which demands them; and strengthen and shield thy people in body and soul, by day and by night; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
