Prayer for Parents Whose Children Have Abandoned the Faith
O Lord, you whose heart is broken for those who have journeyed into the far country, I pray that you would give me the grace to bear the sorrow of my own child who finds himself in the far country: hope in the face of despair, patience for a heart that wants to give up, and the ability to remain present even when it feels painful, so that, like the prodigal son's father, I too might keep perpetual watch and retain a heart of compassion for my child whom you, O Christ, love with a fierce and indefatigable love.
